National Dance Institute (NDI)

National Dance Institute During Dance Class

The mission of the National Dance Institute (NDI) is to help children develop discipline, a standard of excellence, and a belief in themselves that carries over into all other aspects of their lives.  All children of our school community have the opportunity to learn the discipline of dance and performance with NDI. Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to learn movement, choreography, and the ability to collaborate in the creation of dynamic and engaging performances.

National Dance Institute (NDI) was founded in 1976 by Jacques d’Amboise in the belief that the arts have a unique power to engage children and motivate them toward excellence.

New York Scholastic Chess Club

New York Scholastic Chess Club

New York Scholastic Chess Club offers curriculum chess to schools and after-school programs, private lessons for groups and individuals, and chess camps during school breaks.

Our programs are tailored to students ranging from absolute beginner to national champions. Our highly-qualified chess instructors can work with children as young as four years old.

Students will learn how the pieces move, to play a chess game from start to finish, and to develop strategies. Founder / Manager Ivan Dirkx's experience playing top-level scholastic chess in New York City means NYSCC has unique insight into the needs of our students.

Wellness in the Schools

Wellness in the Schools

WITS Chefs lead WITS Labs, seasonal culinary and nutrition education classes for students in WITS schools. In the Labs, students prepare the simple, affordable, and healthy recipes that they will then experience at lunch. The sessions introduce students to the importance of healthy eating and seasonal ingredients, inspiring them to share their newly acquired knowledge with their families. Programs like these have been shown to positively influence children’s food preferences and behaviors, according to recent studies. http://www.wellnessintheschools.org/
